Funding

Funding for air quality programs is available from a variety of sources — many of them senior levels of government. You may already be familiar with funding that is linked directly to local government programs and infrastructure, like the Gas Tax Agreement (New Deal for Cities and Communities) and the Green Municipal Fund.

The key to matching the right funding source to your project is to examine whether your project involves air quality research, air quality and/or energy planning, or implementation of clean air projects that require infrastructure, capacity-building or capital investment.

In general, the types of projects described in this toolkit belong to the clean air projects category. This section shows which funding sources are appropriate for which clean air projects.

The funding sources listed here are intended for local government or community groups only.
